The Optometrist
Dr JohnPaul Odigbo began his career as a clinical optometrist after earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from Abia State University in Nigeria. He later completed a Master's in Public Health at University College Cork, specialising in Public Health Promotion and Protection. This combination of clinical training and public-health perspective shapes how he thinks about patient care, prevention and the role of optometry in community health.
The Entrepreneur
In 2020, JohnPaul made his first franchise business purchase, becoming a director with Specsavers Opticians & Audiologists in Mayo, in the west of Ireland. In early 2022 he founded Odigbo Limited, an optical business holding company that has since acquired three independent optometry practices across Ireland. His experience spans franchising, acquisition, independent practice ownership and day-to-day business operations.
The Leader
JohnPaul has served on the Optical Registration Board, CORU, since his appointment by the Irish Minister for Health in 2022, and has been Chairperson of the board since 2025. This regulatory leadership experience is part of his professional background: it informs his understanding of standards, governance and public accountability, but it is not a service offered through John Paul Odigbo Consultancy.
